EXCEL COOLCOAT

Understanding the Requirement of Cool roof to keep the Temperature of the Building Moderate & Efficient

How building envelope acts as thermal insulation!

The “building envelope” of the building includes the outside walls, windows, doors, roof, etc. of the home. It is the skin of your house and helps protect everything inside. It offers a physical separation between the environments outside from the one inside the building.

The kind of building envelope you choose will determine how comfortable your home remains at different times of the day, night and during the year. A well-designed building envelope helps in keeping the house as warm, cool, or lit by natural conditions for longer durations, to avoid the use of heaters, air-conditioners or indoor lighting as often.

The thermal envelope of the building is considered as the heat-controlling layer, which is largely the ceiling and the façade of the building. The cool roof coatings offer a wide range of benefits including the lengthening of the roof life, ensuring waterproofing and providing reflectivity.

The heat reflectivity characteristic of the coatings aids in offering UV protection and cooler inside environments, lesser use of air conditioning ultimately lowering the energy utility costs. Moreover, using a heat reflective coating or coating tiles enables cooling at places that cannot be air-conditioned including garages, patios and others.

Which factors enable improved energy efficiency in a building?

Variety of options are considered for enabling improved energy efficiency in building design with improved designs of rooftops. Ceilings of the building can be coated with highly reflective paints, tiled, made as green with plantations, overlapped with panels of materials such as wood, fiberglass, polymer and metals.

Several kinds of research have shown that the external colors of a building have a significant impact on the cooling load of the building. A white reflective cool coat can potentially reduce up to 60% of the heat coming in from the ceiling offering it ultimate protection from thermal heat. However, the results vary in different situations. With various experiments, researchers have found savings to vary from 20% to 60%. Typical rooftop reflective coating paints are made of acrylics, Hypalon, neoprene, silicone, and urethane and hybrid materials.

Cool roof coatings not only prevent extra heat from entering a house but also have many other benefits too including the increase in the lifespan of the roof by 15 years or more. Dense cities with a lot of dwellings in a small area have tendencies of getting heat up significantly. If the houses are acquired with reflective rooftops, then the amount of heat waves can be reduced. In general, it can add to greening by reducing waste and saving electricity.

EXCEL Coat is one such type of sustainable rooftop solution which offers a wide range of products including Coal Coat, NanoSeal, StayCool, CoolTile and InsulX which helps in maintaining the temperature of the interiors of the building. Excel Cool Coat is a heat reflective roof paint to reduce the summer heat on the roofs. It is a reflective paint for exterior walls and first of its kind cool roof technology in India. It is a water-based, high solid, PUD hybrid roof coating that contains both reflection and Nano insulation pigments for best in class heat protection. Along with it, the adhesion enhancer & Nano UV protectors prevent the coating from UV degradation delivering excellent weather ability and longer service life.

This heat reflective cool roof coating is powered with micro-fibers for excellent waterproofing & crack resistance.  It comes with reflection, insulation, and waterproofing. It is the time proven and tested the paint to reduce heat on the roof.

Some of the important points for consideration on excel coatings are stated as under:

1. Normally reflective coating contains only reflective pigments, which work on the basis of reflection. In the current scenario, carbon & fine dust settling is very high, which when settles over the coated surface spoils the reflectivity of the heat reflective roof coating. Thus the coating fails & desired performance is not achieved. To prevent this failure, EXCEL CoolCoat contains high-performance Nano-insulating material to efficiently protect heat from entering inside.

2. Contains high-end Nano UV protectors which protect the coating from aging & degrading within a few years.

3. Contains addition enhancers which provide excellent addition property across a variety of surfaces.

4. Contains reinforced microfibers for excellent water proofing and cracks
